Designer: André Badi

Spring and Summer 2012 collection.

A clear blue sky and natural, simpler lines and shapes certainly have made for a beautiful backdrop for the new André Badi collection. Elegance and classic shapes and colors have certainly taken president, for these are just the sort of pieces that may hang in a closet for a number of years, brought out again each Summer…

Designer: Hermès

A trip to Hermès, for an inside look.

I was most fascinated when I came across Shini's (of Park & Cube) pictures from her recent trip to the Hermès Atelier Sacs —with a look at some of the work, behind the scenes, where the magic happens within the production department. Following her fascination, she has snapped some wonderful photographs that take us through phases of the process of production, and were some might argue, is the heart of the company: the skills and dedication to the finest of craftsmanship; craftsmanship that Hermès is so well known for…

Additionally interesting: in celebration of their 175th year and the brand’s unique relationship with leather, Hermès plans to host a public exhibition—starting May 8th to the 27th, (at 6 Burlington Gardens) in which some of the artisans will be showcase the creation of some of the bags. Wouldn't that be amazing to see?

Weekly Finds № 40

This week's discoveries and links, starting with:

01 Apartment F: Located in Bordeaux, this beautiful interior project was recently completed by architect Antonio Rico. The first space certainly creates quite an impression—one of grandeur, lightness and spaciousness. And as one moves through the home, we see a combination of minimalism and modernity with ornate details. Of all of the spaces, I believe the kitchen is quite unusual and beautiful, don't you agree?

*** An update ***

From the architect himself, some wonderful details about the project:

"The design and rehabilitation of this interior has been a big and beautifull challenge. This takes place on the 1rst and 2nd floor of an XVIII century historical building in Bordeaux. All moldings, decorative wood pannels, floors, the main cristal lustre, etc are original and have been restaured very carefully. The decorations of the main living room have been designed by the french architect Victor Louis in arround 1760... My intervention has been total: structures, technic, restaurations, stairs, kitchen, bathrooms and decoration.. respecting the essential dialogue between historic and contemporary architecture, offering the must and highest level in this 200m² appartement."

Designer: Amanda Wakeley

Welcome to South Africa.

Perhaps one of the most pinned, re-blogged and tweeted posts ever on Haute Design was the previous post featuring Amanda Wakeley's bridal collection. Why so? Maybe it is because her designs defy most of what is on the market today? Indeed, her silky and elegant styles certainly make a lasting impression, with cultural influences that make them both refreshing and unforgettable…

Photographer: Brie Williams

A selection of the works of Brie Williams.

Today, to close the week and to open the weekend, I am very happy to share a sampling of the work of photographer Brie Williams. Brie resides in the southern part of the United States, but needless to say, her vast portfolio is a trip for the imagination—a delight for the explorer and creative—a delight to observe, as she brings us into her line of vision, and into a world of dreamy and beautiful living…

Designer: Mango

Mango, Spring/Summer 2012.

Good afternoon—I hope that your Friday is shaping up to be lovely! Here, this past week, we have seen everything that we might expect from Spring including showers, sun, lighting and thunder—a mix has been most interesting. But today, and for this weekend, I believe sunshine is in order, making us long for forgiving things to wear and some time to relax and restore before the new week returns. What is in store for you?

Designer: Dieppa Restrepo

Classic shoes for everyday living.

A wonderful collection brought to life by Colombians Andrea Vargas Dieppa and Elisa Restrepo. Completely androgynous, yet elegant and sophisticated, the collection was originally inspired by a classic gentleman's style, and as they say: "The shoe is the quintessential grown up sneaker: beautiful and simple enough for the chic and fashion-minded, yet comfortable and durable enough for their contemporary urban lifestyle. The shoe is a walking dichotomy, both non-intrusive and timeless, yet modern and undeniably present."

Plus, just in case you missed it, this week's {take me away} post is now live on {this is glamorous}, featuring the fragrant and incredible lavender fields of Provence in the Summertime…

Weekly Finds № 39

This week's discoveries and links, starting with:

01 Lolita Jaca, St.Bart's: Their Spring/Summer 2012 collection is full of feminine details and cheerful prints, evoking a sense of worldly travel and adventure. In fact, The Orient and the Art Deco movement were the main inspirations for the collection. The Kimono remains the emblematic piece of the collection (as we see mid-way down) but the other pieces are arguably just as desirable and lovely.

02 Fidrio, Netherlands: Beautiful glassware, both large and small, has always been on my personal list of must-haves within a home—particularly rare and handmade glassware. I recently came across some pieces by Fidrio while purchasing flowers from my favorite local flower shop, and couldn't forget their designs. Here, we see just a sampling of their collection. The glass pieces are traditionally blown into a mould made of wood, resulting in thick, quality pieces of glass that will last a lifetime.

03 Splenderosa's new website has just launched, with a very pretty selection of accessories to want
04 My Paradissi put together a collage of lovely floral inspiration
05 Casa Très Chic recently featured an airy and fabulous home—truly a piece of paradise
06 Popbee shared a great (and very sweet) book: The French Cat + The French Dog
07 A gorgeous scarf just waiting to be ordered
