Style: Advanced Style

A street style blog: Advanced Style.

I am so pleased to share this inspiring blog with you today. Ari Seth Cohen, the creator of Advanced Style, strolls the bustling streets of New York City and beyond, capturing those with an inherent strong spirit and a pronounced sense of personal style—who celebrate their age with confidence and grace. Ari began the blog so inspired by his own grandmother’s unique and personal style, and the amazing style, he discovered, of so many seniors. Perhaps beyond what he had originally imagined, the blog has advanced wonderfully and organically over the past three years, and now, he has now authored a book!

The book will be released in April, but you may wish to pre-order a copy now. Here is an exerpt from the Amazon page: "Advanced Style is Ari Seth Cohen’s blog-based ode to the confidence, beauty, and fashion that can only be achieved through the experience of a life lived glamorously. It is a collection of street fashion unlike any seen before—focused on the over-60 set in the world’s most stylish locales. The (mostly) ladies of Advanced Style are enjoying their later years with grace and panache, marching to the beat of their own drummer. These timeless images and words of wisdom provide fashion inspiration for all ages and prove that age is nothing but a state of mind.

The Advanced Style book will showcase, in luscious full-color, the best of the blog, but will also act as a true guidebook with all-new material featuring wardrobes, interviews, stories, and advice from a cadre of his most chic subjects, along with a large selection of never-before-seen photography—fresh off of sidewalk catwalks around the world!" Wouldn't this book be a lovely Christmas gift to give?

  2. Thank you so much for featuring this blog! We can learn so much from the everyday street icons. I love our seniors. They have such a sense of style all their own and they are not afraid to tell you and show you who they really are. Reckless abandonment in the most stylish of ways! Miss you friend! XO

  3. Dearest Sarah,

Ari Seth Cohen has captured some very nice images off the New York City streets but Lynn Dell in her video comes across a bit overdone with her way too pronounced red lips and fake nails... I certainly can't label her as a Countess of Glamour; she comes across rather tacky to me.
Glamour at a high age goes together with a certain softness, achieved over a life-time and a freedom to wear what you want. However not in a screaming for attention way.
Have a great week and love to you,

    Mariette

  8. Wow. This is so cool. I tell my mom all the time that I plan on being an eccentric old lady that wears the craziest stuff. But the woman in the green turban is killing them all. That one gets pinned.
