Like another world.
For a few moments, I forgot that it is October... I forgot that it is raining and cool outside (not to mention growing dark quickly) ... I forgot about everything with thanks to this beautiful show. For Chanel Spring 2012, a modern and elegant world under the sea was created, set in the Grand Palais, Paris.
An ultra-pure and elegant setting it was indeed, with white layers, a cave entrance/exit, glistening bubbles, pearly shells, stones, coral, and sealife. I was surprised by the wonderful pieces—how the use of elements of the sea and its culture were used in such clever ways—but also with the pretty accessorizing for the show. How pearls were used to adorn the face and the hair, as well as how coral and such elements were used in the design of the jewelry, handbags and footwear... and lastly, that shells that were carried like clutches. What a finish!
What were your impressions of the show as well as your favorite piece? (clothing or detail)

Wow. So glad you shared this. It's so beautiful! I love the dots of white on the faces and in the hair. I would have loved to have seen this show in person.
ReplyDeleteDearest Sarah,
ReplyDeleteOh, Chanel has been leading in many ways with their great designs. Soon the rest will follow with some cheap looking imitations... But those clutches will be hard to copy! What a great idea. Even the makeup looks like mother of pearl on the face...
Love to you,
Mariette

I laid in bed this morning and watched these beautiful garments move down the runway on style.com. All were absolutely beautiful. Karl is a genius. With him it is always all in the details, and this collection was no difference. The shell carried in the first picture you have above is gorgeous! I'd love to recreate that as an actual evening clutch. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo exquisite, every detail is perfection. I adore the shell clutches, just lovely! xx
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the delicacy of the accessories. The cut and fabric are wonderful. These images make my heart beat faster. Fabulous post Sarah!

I have to admit that I saw this collection a few days ago and wasn't half as impressed with it as I am now. I adore the luxuriois mix and detail you chose. The first look is my favorite...I love the combo of the tulle skirt looking like a delicate flower with tougher, jacket-like blouse. Black piping and beaded bag-genius!
