A family home with great details.
The other day I was flipping through Milk magazine and couldn't help but pause when I arrived at this beautiful apartment. Well-suited to the couple and their seven year-old daughter, this home is every bit as inviting and intriguing as it is easy on the eyes. A little scooter for fun is just as at home as a valuable and intricate clock.
Above all else, the details had me—the vase on floor, near the fireplace, the imperfectly perfect placement of objects on the mantle, the pink hallway and lighting, built-in and hidden dining room storage, the globe on the floor... the office with its old, old chair and new, modern light over the built-in system, the library storage... and yes, of course, the flooring. What do you think of this place?

It's very warm and welcoming. The details (fireplace mantel, doors and crown molding, floors) are graceful and somehow delicate. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDearest Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI love the use of all the quality 'old house' features such as the incredible flooring and also the moldings on the ceilings and doors... That builds character, combined with good taste for choosing the right things to style it again.
Love to you,
Mariette

ReplyDeleteWell put, Redbrickbuilding and Mariette!
ReplyDeleteTobe: I know exactly what you mean :)
I've always loved white-painted wood floors, but this black is stunning.

Andrea: And funny enough, I usually do not prefer painted flooring, really, but this is gorgeous! The pink really makes it, I think. (not to fond of strictly black and white)
ReplyDeleteI love the floor - also really love the pink which is unusual for me, but I like it with the black
