Shop: Atelier Mayer

A beautiful vintage shop in London.

Selling beautiful 20th century vintage pieces from well known and perhaps not so well known designers, Carmen Haid certainly has an eye for exquisite fashion and accessories. Her shop, Atelier Mayer, will have you browsing and wanting. "My grandmother, Klaudia Mayer, was an Austrian haute couture tailor whose atelier was originally founded in 1927," Haid explained. "The company has updated her heritage to the 21st Century in the form of a luxury e-boutique and a salon by appointment for vintage fashion lovers, collectors, students, designers and artists." There are a number of pieces that I would personally love to have, such as this incredible, cream, off-the-shoulder gown and this Christian Dior bow necklace. Isn't it a lovely shop?

+ this week's finds: some pretty swimwear and things to wear on the beach (the black jumper and one piece are my favorites) / a beautiful, drapey top / a fabulous bright orange watch from La Mer / an adventure in Kenya, Africa / shoes & stairs / incredibly bold shoes / the most haute fridge I have come across to date! / and lastly, a beautiful lighting shop that will leave you dreaming...

Style: Elegant Materials

Luxurious lipsticks to fine leathers.

Good morning to you! I hope that this week has been lovely so far — productive with a little fun, if possible. Mine has been most inspiring and surprising. In fact, I've just found out that I won this beautiful fashion print from (and by the talented) Nancy Marcus, of Nancy Marcus Design. I can hardly wait to see it and place it in my home... as for today's post, following an almost retro, modern, open home, came inspiration from makeup to handbags — beautiful and plush materials, whether that be a smooth lipstick, luxurious leathers or fine metals. That is certainly my weak point, as I cannot pass a gorgeous handbag of buttery leather without touching it or go too long without re-applying a sweep of my favorite lipstick... what are your favorite materials?

Architecture: Ranato D'Ettorre

A Hamilton island home.

Such a marvelous, open home, offering a refreshing assembly of interconnected living spaces, designed to encompass different areas for multi-purpose living. Some are perfect for entertaining, while some offer relaxation and shelter from the sunshine, and others are perfect for sleeping. Neither front nor back focused, the home is situated so well within nature, with multiple views of the beautiful surrounding water. While some may consider the addition of pools on the property to be arbitrary given the fabulous large body of water, however, it seems to only enhance the views and create a sense of cohesion with the landscape. Simple, grand, modern — it almost has a retro feel, I find. I would really like to know your thoughts on it...

Hope you are having a fabulous weekend! The remainder of my weekend will be comprised of much work, a relaxing Sunday morning (outside, hopefully) and spending some time visiting different blogs. Do you have any fun plans in store for tomorrow?

Color: Vibrant Orange

One of the many brights to appreciate.

We've been watching the steady rise of popularity for bright colors for some months now, and I am so happy to seek inspiration for my own wardrobe and space from several different sources. We can look to nature — to fruit — or even to graphic design — to printed business cards, packaging and stationary (just look at those die cuts and beautiful envelopes!) — to furnishings — simple glass furnituremakeup and fashion — in lipstick, hats, etc. — and then of course, there are some inspiring people, such as the beautiful Hanneli, who pulls off brights in such an effortless way, you cannot help but be inspired...

Style: Tiffany & Co.

A stylish lunch outdoors.

Happy Summer! After a significantly more rainy Spring, yesterday marked a whole new season... and thankfully along with it, beautiful, sunny weather. Yesterday, I was happy take advantage of the longest day of the year, (which happened to be so lovely!) with an extra long bike ride and dinner out on the upper lawn with the family. I hope that the first day of Summer was just as fun. Celebrate beautiful Summer living in large and small ways by: picking up some pretty, ballet-inspired fashions / wearing a long skirt and a bright, cheerful pedicure / picking up some new, lacey shoes / working some new comforts into your outdoor décor / planning a party with some new table setting ideas / purchasing a chic chaise lounge / hanging a floral painting / & lastly, by adding something to your yard for the birds to enjoy...

Pure Goodness: Oranges

Oranges. A wonderful gift from nature.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to the lovely Natalia of Fashioned by Love, who will be sharing her vast knowledge on healthy living and nutrition with us today. In a continuation of the pure ingredient series, entitled "Pure Goodness", this article focuses on fresh oranges. Enjoy!

Originated thousands of years ago in Asia, oranges look like summer sunshine and smell of holidays spent in a beautiful Mediterranean village. Bursting with sweet flavour, unmistakable aroma and energy-filled bright colour, they were first used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat coughs and colds, while the oil was applied to relief tension and ease digestive discomfort.

Historically, the fruit was very expensive and in Victorian times reserved for weddings or to be presented as a very special gift at Christmas. In the 16 century Spanish explorers brought oranges to Florida, and then, the 18 century, to California. These days sweet oranges are grown in USA, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Portugal and Israel.

Oranges have been found to contain more than 60 flavonoids that work with vitamin C to provide anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory protection to the cells, including DNA, and may also reduce risk of several cancers and rheumatoid arthritis, strengthen capillaries and prevent varicose veins. Apart from plentiful quantities of vitamin C, oranges also contain heart-healthy fibre, folate, potassium and flavonoids, bone-building calcium and phosphorus, stress-reducing magnesium, and energy-producing vitamin B1.

Enjoy them as a snack, add to salads as oranges go beautifully with fresh crispy fennel and scrumptious avocado, blend into soups, make a refreshing drink full of fruity goodness or a spicy tea by combining orange peel, cinnamon and clove and, of course, don’t forget about zesty treats like this lovely orange and poppy seed cake or summer baked fruits.

Style: Lily Collins

A winning smile.

Good evening, friends! I hope that your weekend has been a fun one and that you were able to give your Dad a phone call, or send him a card, maybe a gift, or some kind, thoughtful words today... I am thankful that my Dad has always been there for me, with such support and love... which leads me to a daughter that you may not know, and a father that you will most likely recall instantly. Yes indeed, I am giving myself away by saying that I was a mid 80's baby and listened to Phil Collins from time to time growing up. But it was quite a surprise to be reminded of the artist when I picked up the latest issue of Tatler magazine featuring his beautiful daughter, Lily Collins, as you see above. She very much reminds me of Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday, with her sassy bangs, signature brows and contagious happiness. I know little about her but am very curious as to where her career will lead! Isn't she refreshing?

+ I am very excited to share a lovely (and delicious, hint* hint*) post with you tomorrow, written by a blogger who is as intelligent as she is stylish...

Grazia, Rose.

Good (Friday) morning! Perhaps you have come across some of his work before, or maybe this is your first time seeing just a snippet of his talent, but Signe's eye is nothing short of remarkable. Based in Denmark, she divides her time primarily between Copenhagen, Paris and Milan. "I have a great passion for beauty and aesthetics, and through photography I have found the ideal way to express my ideas and visions."—she says. That is for certain. These images are incredible pretty and tasteful, showcasing femininity and such darling pieces...
