Travel: Valletta, Malta

A boutique self-catering accommodation in Valletta, Malta.

"Lucia Nova, a Maltese house—historic, slightly worn at the edges, a little bit of the old mixed with the new. Distressed original walls preserved for their beauty, are combined with beautiful fabrics and contemporary design furniture and lamps. Located in the old quarter of the town, where the windows and balconies are festooned with the day's washing, hanging out like street decorations ready for a parade."

The house is just gorgeous and offers a very unique setup that actually consists of one room on top of each other, connected by a lovely spiral stone staircase —leading from the ground floor all the way to the roof! How fun, and I like the idea of having a home to stay in —one that offers luxury and comfort and beauty; (Valletta Suites in fact offers three different accommodations) To explore the rather fascinating collection of books, to touch the stone walls, to wander the old, old streets and discover a whole new place...

  3. Sarah, I love places like this. Such lovely photos too. To me, it just seems more like you're actually "living there" as opposed to a regular hotel, especially if staying longer than a few days.

  4. Beautiful. Malta's never been on my to-go list, but I guess I'll have to add it!
