Interior: A Warm Kitchen

A comforting kitchen that truly wraps you up in its warmth.

I have to be perfectly upfront and honest with all of you. This last week has been quite eventful. There was some exciting news, some challenges that have come up and very sad news as well —most sad of all being that my Great Grandma passed away yesterday morning. She was such a lady; An amazing, strong, incredibly warm, giving French woman. And although I did not grow up with the same constant contact as her children and Grandchildren did, she was such an example to all of how to love endlessly and give with a true, open, beautiful heart. She would have enjoyed this kitchen that I am sharing today, as I hear so many stories of how she always had an abundance of food in the house for unexpected visitors and long, lingering meals with plenty of laughter, and an open home, always, to anyone who wanted to stop by for a visit, anytime. And although she is now with God, I look forward to hearing many more stories of this incredible lady and fondly remembering little things about her. Her memory is eternal, as I see glimpses of lovely traits that she has passed down to loved ones, and that to me, is a very special, indescribable gift...

And so,

This week will be relatively more quiet as far as visits, posting and emails, as I will be traveling for a few days and attending my Great Grandma's funeral. Please excuse the delays and I promise to respond as soon as possible. I cannot thank you enough for your visits, emails and kind words —I feel very blessed to have such wonderful friends.

  3. Dearest Sarah,

What a lovely tribute. So true about a warm kitchen being the 'bossom' of a home...
Your Great Grandma did fit that role as I learn here. She will be so proud to read your writing here. It must have been a healthy and happy lady; being in perfect balance with body and soul for reaching a blessed high age.
May God bless you and your family as you all escort her on her final journey.
And yes, the French touch is still very much alive in her fourth generation... I'm proud of you!

    Lots of love,

    Mariette

To have had so many years with your 'great grandmother' must have been wonderful. And she really sounds like an amazing and timeless lady - someone who will stay with you in spirit for sure. I sense great closeness.

The kitchen above is wonderful. So quiet I feel like whispering when I look at the pictures. A place with good energy for sure. Just like your blog.

Big warm hugs to you all the way from Sydney!
