L'avènement de Noël: № 1

Welcome to December* a new series, and plenty of surprises.

Good morning, friends! I couldn't be more excited to begin this new and magical month with a bit of sparkle and excitement. As mentioned yesterday, a brand new series has just begun, starting today, and featuring l'avènement de Noël —a daily post offering inspiration surrounding Christmas, whether it be for your home, for gift giving or for a special outfit. There will be quite a range of images for inspiration, as well as some links to others findings. Featured above is my very own inspiration board for this year's Christmas décor scheme. Last year was quite Tiffany & Co. inspired, with blue boxes, softly snowed branches and silver, as where this year has been inspired by a vintage Vogue magazine cover that I bought a few months ago. Plenty of gold, copper and silvery grey sets the mood—with touches of vintage glass, silky pewter, berry, soft white and crème. To finish off, a bit of nature—some sticks to create a screen, with minimal but effective haute adornments.

A few special ideas:

+ create over-sized sequins out of paper to create a specific simple shape to place on wall as this season's art—ie. a wreath, tree or even a shimmering dress as seen in image 06
+ send out lovely and simple, handwritten postcards rather than/or accompanying Christmas cards. Create a few extras to hang as a garland—ie. as ssen in image 09
+ gather some branches to bring nature inside your home and finish off with a bit of festive adornments—whether it be little faux birds, candles or ornaments as seen in image 10
+ create a new idea of a "partridge in a pear tree" by selecting a multi-tiered platter, adding some foiled (or plain) pears and a bird to top—ie. as seen in image 15
