Summerill & Bishop

A charming and stylish kitchen and tableware shop in London.

It is indeed a wonderful treat to come across a boutique that presents themselves so well, both online and offline. With displays of intriguing vignettes, articulate words and great passion, Summerhill & Bishop is nothing short of inspiring. If it were at all feasible, I would jump on a plane and stop in to do some Christmas shopping, but quite thankfully and to my surprise, they offer a lovely online shopping section on their website... all the more reason to take a few minutes out, grab a hot cup of tea, and explore...

Established in 1994, this lovely corner shop is owned and operated by two longtime friends. "Governed by the simple notion that the kitchen is at the heart of every home, and sharing a passion for family life, cooking and entertaining, their shop truly reflects this philosophy." Offering the allure of a Provencal home, the store is filled easy tables, festooned with wonderful bits of nature amongst hand crafted earthenware, glassware and natural home products. There are a plethora of ideas as well as items, both new and antique, to give and to want... oh yes, and did I happen to mention that they offer a wedding and gift registry? Well quite frankly, these ladies just make it far too easy!

+ just some of my favorite products: zinc baskets / white frilly apron / copper butter pan / silver spice bowl / French rattan basket / milk jug / Baas carafe in lime green / cork serving platter / a gold trimmed mint tea glasses set

  6. The blue awning pulls you in. What a store! I was hoping you were going to tell me it was located in Vancouver.

Imagine having a shop like that. You could do it, Sarah! And I could be that annoying customer hanging on your door step before you even opened the doors in the morning! (:

Love to you. Miss you! Will tell you soon what I am working on!

  26. A wonderful shop with so much DIY inspiration for a DIY junkie like me :-)! I'm currently in my "gilding everything" mode, probably due to the weather getting dull and gray, so covering a few plates and bowls with gold leaf seems like a natural progression from the desk I made recently ;-) Thx for great inspiration, Sarah!
