Their motto: “Chocolates made with love…”
While fully admitting to being a chocolate enthusiast, and having such minuscule amount of self-control when faced with this beautiful, sweet treat, I was momentarily fixated on this incredible shop. In fact, I can almost smell the chocolate as I share this with you... "This palace that once belonged to Napoleon, King Leopold II and the Prince of Orange (when Antwerp was still a part of the Netherlands), was fully renovated by the Flemish government. The former palace of Napoleon and is now owned by Heritage Flanders." The shop is "situated in what once was the drawing-room and the bedroom of the Great Marshal, but nothing has been altered to the original interior. (protected by Monumentenzorg) For these rooms Fabienne designed a magnificent counter in the shape of a large bar of chocolate on which all our pralines are displayed." How clever, not to mention incredibly exquisite!

I was staring at the walls and ceiling so much I totally missed that the counter was shaped like a chocolate bar, so I went back and had a look. What an amazing room to indulge my chocolate passion.
ReplyDeleteNow, that is a striking space.
ReplyDeleteAn amazing juxtaposition of the modern chocolate "bar" standing as stage in the museum quality room of later glory days.
Cheers!...to finding yourself in a space well played
