Vintage Packaging

Beautiful French packaging.

I love saving detailed, pretty packaging. I truly think I would feel guilty tossing it away, especially knowing the great deal of thought, time and money goes into creating such pieces. (I love the spot metallic with de–bossing—fabulous!) I enjoy keeping them visible, but also storing simple things inside like favorite cards, postcards, buttons, and other treasures. Isn't this one heavenly? They once contained covered candied/glazed chestnuts with chocolate. (thank you, Ophelie) Doesn't it look like something from "Marie Antoinette"? Heavenly. Do you have a favorite box or package?

  2. they are beautiful. If I ever got these as a gift, I would want two each. One set I would keep as is just because of the gorgeous packaging.

  3. I love to wrap boxes with used wrapping paper, put a sachet in it and fill it with letters/keepsakes. Each time I see the box, it brings back good memories.

  4. Hi Sarah - these images are so pretty and I am the same; an absolute push-over for some vintage packaging. My Mum has this old silver Danish hair-slide that came in a classic vintage box. I remember playing with it when I was little, not sure what I loved the best, the box or the hair-slide! Then tucked insider recently we found a letter from her Mother to her written in the early 60's. Love that! So old packages sometimes hold surprises...

  5. Marrons glacés au chocolat is not chocolate covered nuts. They cover candied/glazed chestnuts with chocolate. It is a delicacy you find in most store during Xmas holidays.

  11. Lou -- what a lovely story this is...

Ophelie -- thank you so much for the clarification. The site in which I found the images was in conflict with a few others in determining what they actually are. I wasn't 100%, so thank you :)

Nadine -- thank you so much. You are so kind -- I will be over to visit soon.

  15. Such a lovely post Sarah! I adore boxes and have been collecting them my whole life (although seem to have switched more to plates now to store goodies). Did you see Martha's how to on beautiful antique looking boxes last winter? I think you would love it!
