And We're Off

Going to the races never looked so chic.

Good morning! With warm, moist, homemade apple cake and a cup of coffee, I feel that the day and week are already on the right track. (no pun intended) Each Autumn, I feel somewhat inspired by equestrian style—the jackets, boots, gloves and such... a classic look, really. I find that Ralph Lauren and Hermès do such a beautiful job of creating some simplified and elegant pieces with equestrian inspiration. I would love to purchase a few perhaps... Do you enjoy this style, also?

+ Monday's finds: preparing for a Vogue masquerade ball / sweet + chic teacup lights / stay at The Seven Hotel in Paris: from James Bond to Marie Antoinette, a room for different styles—what's yours? / a romantic, silk–chiffon komono / a gorgeous, modern light + Finnish shop to visit / a whimsical video of Elsa+Edith scarves shot here in Vancouver, with the assistance of one of my favorite local talents, Wendy Williams–Watt, of Grace / to want: a petite, French boudoir phone / a Parisian scarf to love / a beautiful, simple, vintage rug / a gorgeous plaster piece to hang / a grand Victorian (for sale) in Australia / in the pink / and, lastly, loose tie belts in an array of pretty colors... wishing you a perfect start to the new week!

  6. These might be the loveliest photos you've shared yet. Gorgeous! I can't get enough of equestrian inspiration — I might have to add a few of these to an upcoming post! I'm searching for the perfect pair of riding boots and maybe even a sleek pair of jodhpur pants. Thank you for the lovely post!

  7. Did I tell you about my first time riding a horse... The horse kept trying to eat grass and I felt like I was going to fall over! It was the same time when I got chased by goats (grade 7 camp).

These are extravagant images though :D

  11. Wow, beautiful post, Sarah! I'm a horse-lover from early childhood on, and was lucky enough to own a Tennessee Walker in high school. I jumped and ran with the best of 'em, but my outfits while riding were never quite as glamorous as those above! They're darling!!!!

Sounds as if your week is off to a good start! Here's to each day being just a little better than the day before. ;)

  29. A. I wish I had enough money to buy all of these looks, B. I wish I had a job where wearing these looks wouldn't cause me to become something of a sideshow, and C. I wish I knew how to ride a horse.

    Irregardless .... love it.

  30. Marie -- there's something about the lighting and the dirt that seems to really offset the beautiful fashion, isn't there?

Carolann -- you never fail to make me smile...
