Detail of the Week

Rich and romantic shapes and layers.

Truly for the romantic of heart, pretty layers in fashion and for the home are a necessity. Whether it be taffeta, lace, feathers, glass, silk, wallpaper, or what have you, these textures are evocative, and offer such alluring, boudoir qualities. Some more inspiration here, here, here, + here... and a few more ideas at hand:

For Interiors + Fashion

Cover your shoulders in a soft shawl for evening dinner dates
Splurge on some lovely intimates
Purchase a delicate, pretty top in white, blush or nude
Tie a pretty, thin velvet bow around your wrist, ankle or waist
Add a brooch to your belt
Add a charming little pin to your updo
or, wear a gorgeous headband

--

Lay your favorite jewelry on top of vintage plates and tea cups
Find a chic hook, and hang your prettiest, elegant dress by itself
Layer your bed in blankets, pillows, shawls, with a textured variety
String curtains in your space as a divider
Drape a pretty vintage or new shawl off a chair or little table
Create a display with a variety of glass, filled with flowers here and there
Tie a wide, silky ribbon around your favorite vase
Layer your bed in blankets, pillows, shawls, with a textured variety
Add flowers to your wall

  1. The beautiful french hand (or machine) sewn clothes are absolutely beautiful. French lace is the finest lace around. After making a couple of french handsewn dresses, I have a great appreciation for these pieces.

  9. Oh Sarah, this was really complex perfection! Everything from the black throw to the lacey cotton lingerie, and shiny glass. I just loved it! And I agree, I'm such a layer-er (is that a word?) of yummy shawls and blankets on my bed and couches--it just makes it so much better! Hoping you are off to a lovely week! And thanks for the fabulous inspiration!
