Whether rustic or refined, a combination to appreciate.
Ivy-clad houses and walls, overflowing, layered pots, and garden beds in full bloom... dreamy! The combination of stone and flowers is just meant to be... like salt and pepper, each with their own purpose, look and feel... but together? Amazing. It's all in the contrast of old and new, and natural.
I often wonder... do you recall the sweet old man in "Under the Tuscan sun" who would leave flowers for an unresponsive receiver at Frances' property line? He would walk there periodically, tuck in his bouquet of pretty fresh blooms, and go about his day... and she wonders... did he love someone there, did he loose someone there? I often wonder about those whose lives touched the stone of the house, the walls, what have you. And so the saying goes, "if walls could talk..." can you just imagine their stories?

Bougainvillea - my favourite. We used to have a massive tree completely covered in purple bougainvillea growing up, and it always had a magical quality about it. We called it 'The Faraway Tree' after one of Enid Blyton's novels...
ReplyDeleteA beautiful post. I love the images of Catherine McNeil and pairing them the way you did - perfect. I love that man in Under the Tuscan sun. Even though he doesn't say one line, he plays such a prominent role for me in that movie. Great post. =) Have a lovely day and thanks for you comment on the blog.
