Classic Chic /Emerging Trends

The Military Coat.

With interesting weights, cuts, and great details, I'm ready to take the plunge and search out my own green jacket or coat. Not at'all shabby—a chic version of what we've seen in the past. A military twist. ( Olivia does it again! ) Combine with feminine details, such as lace, sequins, sheers and metallics, for a fresh look...

The Wide-Brimmed Hat.

If you can pull it off—I say go for it. It's a fun and dramatic way to accessorize your look. Just be careful in looking for a richly colored option that perfectly suits your face. No need to look like you stole the neighbour's hat! *wink* I love Carmen's curls in contrast with her hat and the fashionable loose braid...

Leopard Print Pieces.

From gloves and coats, skirts to bags, you cannot go wrong with richly printed or fur leopard pieces. It's all about the layers. If you're not into fur, no worries, simply opt for a lovely dress or scarf, perhaps. Mix it with luxurious blacks for contrast or your new favorite military coat for a full—on stylish ensemble. Even a little hit of the print will go a long way. Hmm...where did I put that little handbag?

The New Black.

Now, this is something I have been into for quite some time! Camel is such a classic, tasteful color, whether you are seventeen or seventy, isn't it? To me, no one can do it better than ChloĆ©—click here to find more inspiration. Lovely in a statement blazer, with black and white, or just in a pair of buttery leather shoes...you can go all out with different shades, such as miroslava Duma's outfit, or simply a hit with a thin, twisted belt. Pick up a few pieces for now, and for Fall, as we're sure to see Camel stick around...

The Structured Handbag.

Bannish the slouchy, burry the blahh, and bring out the structured handbag! From teensie clutches to long, long strapped bags—look for a great handbag with metal details to love, and a comfortable/chic statement fabric. Solid or single print preferred. ( think Chanel or Celine ) I adore the black and blue ones above! Oh, Celine, you're calling our names...you do this so perfectly this season...

.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
This is just a taste of some of the trends we've been seeing and are sure to see flowing into upcoming Fall months. Personally, I could definitely see a few making their way into my closet for now and forever. Do you love/hate them? I'm dying to know!

  3. Helena—that is SO funny! Don't feel bad, though, I was in a restaurant last month, and this girl about 3 tables from me, had this awesome creamy, tasseled handbag, with a long chain...on our way out, I couldn't help but walk up to her table and ask where she purchased it. My luck? It was found at a vintage shop—one of a kind!

  11. I'm most definitely a fan of camel - one of my favorite neutral - probably wear it too much and structured bags are perfect for work. Thank you for sharing these images. Lots of ideas are now percolating! =)

  13. Love your tips Sarah...I love leopard print pieces but I'm careful with them...my leopard print gloves are my favorite winter accessories...

And those Celine bags...Oh my...they are just so gorgeous. I've found this bag (http://www.etsy.com/listing/43595099/quote-street-couture-baby-carseat-bag) on Etsy a couple of weeks ago...I was thinking they are pretty fabulous...somehow this blue Celine bag reminds me of that bag (of course it's very different but still)...

Hope you're having a lovely week so far, much love: Evi

  15. I was just out looking at military inspired things tonight, and like you would rather have something with a fresh and clean spin rather than shabby. Loved the Jak & Jil roundup on Style.com too, aren't his photos the best? Thanks for stopping by today--hope you're having a wonderful week Sarah!
