La Maison du Village.
A true southern France treat. Nestled in the heart of St. Remy de Provence, this absolutely beautiful boutique hotel is surrounded by world–renowned markets, boutiques, and of course, postcard views. La Maison du Village welcomes you to stay amoungst carefully restored 18th century architecture, and relaxed yet luxurious décor. Spend the morning enjoying a delicious breakfast in the lovely, secret garden...or laze in bed and step out to have a nice lunch or afternoon tea, served in the shadow of the old, patina-ed fountain...

I adore this hotel. It was on my list of places to stay, (when planning for our trip) but unfortunately it was so full, that they could not accommodate all of us...There are certain things that I, personally, look for when viewing and selecting a hotel. Beyond the initial imagery that flashes through on the website, I always read through and try to find out a bit more, such as how large the rooms are, what kind of toiletries they offer, exactly where they are located, how many rooms does the hotel offer, etc. I first came across this hotel in Côté Sud, as you see scanned above, and instantly fell for its vivid color palette and rich textures. It says "comfort" to me.

One thing I typically do is to search through trip adviser, and read through some honest opinions about hotels...I have signed up as of last year, and connected with a few travelers via email and have shared in some great testimonies that I am certain will come in handy in the future. I highly recommend it!
A few details to love...
* It is a boutique hotel
* The gravel courtyard
* The stone + shutters
* The time worn floor + walls
* Fresh flowers throughout
* Stunning mirrors
* Luxurious textures
* A gift shop, selling Dyptique
What do you look for when searching for a hotel? Would you stay here?

ps so pleased you liked the tiffany key and thank you so much for the lovely comments.
I'm with Dustjacket Attic... these photographs and your essay are so enticing I just want to go straight to the airport this morning rather than work!
ReplyDeleteI tend to look for small sophisticated boutique hotels with all the perks... big chain hotels are a bit scary in these times of insecurity.
Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend!
Oh Sarah this is truly delightful
ReplyDeleteThe images alone would be enough to entice me but your right about the little extras making a stay all the more pleasant. Perhaps the biggest problem would be having to leave.!!
I hope your weekend is as relaxing as these images. Thanks for you lovely comments over my way.. it's wonderful how accessible this world can be through this act of blogging.. xx Julie

ReplyDeleteI adore everything unique when it comes to hotels...to be honest, hotels can be so boring after a while, even if it's a 5 star brand...I love when a hotel doesn't look like a "hotel"...and I adore every unique detail...
Have a great weekend dear Sarah, much love: Evi

Mary Jo -- it is! I warn you though, once you have a gravel courtyard, there's no going back. My Mother had one done about 5 years ago, and it's such a wonderful spot -- my favorite to sit in during warm summer months :)
ReplyDeleteRose -- thank you :)
