A Fashionable Giveaway!

One of my favorite Christmas gifts this year was "The Gospel According to Coco Chanel." (Thank you to my Grandma) And what better item to giveaway at the start of this year, to start your year off in a stylish way?

"The diminutive book fits nicely into your bag for take along reading. The cover is smooth and luxurious. Fashion illustrations by Chesley McLaren provide the eye candy. But this book was not written as just another biography of the fashion designer. This book provides a guide for the modern woman who wishes self sufficiency and empowerment the Chanel way.

Through the pages of The Gospel, we do learn snippets of Chanel’s life…her rags to riches background, the compulsive lying which created her mystique, and her success with and final rejection of love. But the biography portion of Chanel’s life is not the focus here. It’s the advice that makes it different and relevant. I especially recommend this book for my fellow ladies who are designers, artists, workaholics and creative entrepreneurs. Those who enjoy humor and escapism reading with good dose of savoir faire will also not be disappointed."

  2. My favorite style tip is to do what makes YOU feel good. Fashion comes and goes. What really stands out is when you are comfortable and confident in what you wear or how you wear it.

  5. What a great giveaway! :)
My style tip? A belt, especially skinny leather one, can transform an outfit! It can give you an hourglass body shape even if you're rectangular shaped, or at least give the illusion of an hourglass. Lately, I've been putting on my skinny black leather belt with everything....it looks especially cute cinching a cardigan with a cute flowy top underneath! cute, cute! :)

  13. Sarah - what an awesome job you do. I am a silent reader of your everfab blog, so when I saw this contest, I just had to speak up :)

Hmm, best style tip. I have one.
Beauty: dab a pinch of vaseline on top of your eyelids - it not only keeps the eyelids smooth but shiny like a model

  14. Yay for giveaways! I always think about proportions and silhouettes when I dress myself - I'm a big fan of balancing out voluminous tops with skinny bottoms and vice versa.

  19. What a wonderful idea & gift. I watched the Coco Chanel movie during Xmas and I'm starting to fall in love with Coco all over again and she's just as inspiring and fanscinating this time as the first time. Favourite tip is one of hers (my grandmothers) 'leave the house dressed elegantly, in clothes that fit and are clean - it could be you date with destiny'.

A beauty that i just learned about getting rid of frizzy hair is to comb your hair with toothbrush.
And lightly spray the tooth brush with hair spray.

my style tip: dress for your body type and be yourself. don't pretend to have the body you don't have by dressing as if you did. embrace who you are and dress accordingly. nothing is more beautiful than being true to yourself :)

Coco is amazing! Love her ambiance she conveys very much. My best tip? Well, being a college student, I am very concerned with watching my money. However, I have a love for fashion, beauty, etc. To catch some great deals though, I use these tips (sorry it's 2 but... I just had to include them both =] )
-Try to order what you want online. This way you can decide what you really want as far as fashion instead of just spending money on something you will be tired of in a month. I like to plan my outfits, or at least a general feel, then go on a scouting mission to find the right pieces. Plus, a lot of times if you leave items in your cart online for a few days, the store will send you extra deals via e-mail to encourage you to finish purchasing.
-When buying make-up at a department store, such as clinique at macys, wait to but it until you see that they have promotions going (and they often always do). You'll end up liking the free stuff that you get in an adorable little bag with your purchase of a one-time use eyeshadow then you will the eyeshadow, trust me. My favorite products I have gotten for free.

  41. Tip- When decorating your home - make it a reflection of yourself. What you love, who you are, who your family is that is what makes it home. And when you do buy things buy something classic and the best you can afford it will last you a lifetime and maybe even someone else.

  46. What a beautiful giveaway! Thank you for doing this! It is my birthday soon, and I love coco chanel!!
I am so glad that you enjoyed this book as well, I love reading books even more when they come recommended by someone :)
My best style tip is to only have things that you love very much. At home, as well as with your clothes, jewels, scents, everything! everything we have or carry defines us in some way I find.
The benefit of this is that you buy so much less, you need so much less, and you feel so good, surrounded by things that are so dear to you.
It was wonderful to find your blog, thank you for writing it!

  47. i had to include some style tips from coco chanel, cause they're just so great:

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

“Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions.”
