Detail of the Week

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend! As December is just around the corner, I am preparing a variety of posts to share with you—some Christmas gift ideas, decor inspiration, fashion, as well as some thoughts and words to hopefully help and inspire you this month, or even just make your day a little sweeter...

Today, I wanted to showcase a very unique few pieces from Bleu Nature—a wonderful company that I discovered while in Paris. "Founded in 1995, Bleu Nature is a craft-based business located near Lille, in Northern France. Our principal material is driftwood, but we also use pebbles, lacquered wood, lacquered metal, leather, skins and petrified wood. Here, the natural erosion of a fragment of wood is a source of inspiration and perpetual wonder. Explore a collection of furniture and lighting fixtures in which driftwood forces simplicity and plays with contrasts."

I love the combination of materials and their sincere dedication to their Eco concept.
What do you think, friends?

*p.s just a little reminder—tomorrow is the big day! I will be drawing a winner for the Sartorialist book.
If you haven't had a chance to enter, you can do so here.

Weekend Inspiration

I hope that all of my friend's down south are enjoying a lovely Thanksgiving! As of this week, my Christmas decorating has officially begun. Sparkling mini chandeliers in the bay window, large, snow dusted branches in corners adorned with mini diamond—shaped lights, cozy details, and plenty of warm textures and fabrics...Have you begun your decorating? I am certain that you are busy enjoying the festivities, but wanted to share a few great links with you, just in case you decide to take a few moments of quiet, away from all the fun :)

Front & Company A great shop here in Vancouver that houses an eclectic mix of gently worn, vintage finds and new items. From Kensie to Prada, to books, shoes, and perfumes, this place is a treasure trove, and you're sure to leave happy. (Today was my first visit)

Jane in Paris! One of my all time favorite bloggers, Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes, is currently in Paris, soon to attend a decadent debutante ball! Did I mention that she is going to be wearing Chanel? Be sure to visit her site for a sneak peak of her adventure.

Mika 78 A super dreamy place...I believe every inch of this space is pretty.

Buckled Beauties These boots will forever haunt me! I have seen them repeatedly in the past month or so, and each time, they send my heart racing. If you feel the same, I have good news for you! I came across a similar pair here, but for less.

Deck the Walls I'm loving this great post by Skyla, of Sanity Fair. That particular image, showcasing wrapping paper on a white wall looks like a fun idea—a perfect little project post-Christmas when the snow takes over and you're stuck indoors.

A Yellow Christmas An unconventional and stunning look. If you are a fellow bow lover, I bet you will love this simple but bold idea.

Shoes & Shelves The most chic shoe storage solution I have come across yet! (I must say, I adore that unique and cozy lucite chair as well)

*I hope you have a wonderful, much inspired weekend, friends!
I truly appreciate your visits and thoughtful comments.

Soft Elegance from the South

First off, a very Happy Thanksgiving to all those celebrating this weekend! Here in Canada, we celebrated last month, though who could tire of the delicious flavours, scents and traditions that Thanksgiving brings. For my family, traditions include a large feast around a lively table of turkey, stuffing, vegetables, cranberry sauce, potatoes, and plenty of pumpkin pie! Do you have any traditions that you are looking forward to?

I thought this place was very fitting to showcase today—with the beautiful patina and style that is to true to the south of France...the cozy table, unique bathroom sink, and large crown detail are so beautiful...a few of my favorite features. Yours?

Like A Cozy Blanket

As winter is fast approaching, out come the blankets, pillows and slippers! Nothing says winter to me more than rich and luxurious velvets, warm colors, and cozy, layered textures. I find that decor can offer the same level of comfort and warmth, and that these great spaces are the epitome of such...

The amazing, time worn textures, wood tones and fabrics look so inviting...these are a few photos I have been saving in my inspirational file, but wanted to share with you today, as it is particularly cold and dreary out. Isn't that kitchen incredible? I adore ladders in homes, whether in a library, kitchen or closet. There's something grand, yet friendly about the room. I have a feeling that many lively family dinners take place here...

Also, thank you so much for all of the lovely comments on my previous giveaway post! Reading them brought tears to my eyes, not only for your thoughtful words of kindness, but for the words of difficulty and hope. I wish that I could send a copy of The Sartorialist to each person that left a comment. If you haven't had a chance to enter yet, no problem! I won't be drawing the winner until December 1st. Even if you already own a copy of the book, perhaps a good friend or sister might like to receive it for Christmas.

Have a wonderful Wednesday*

Her skin and features are so captivating.

Luxury Footwear by Omelle

............................................................................................................................................................................................

Beautiful footwear, designed by Omelle. The over—sized buttons, details and luxe fabrics really appeal to me...especially Miss Fancy in feather grey! (seen below) What do you think of their collection?

Here's a little background info. about the company: "It started with a spark, something akin to the perfect pair of boots. Amidst illustrations, scrap fabrics and inspiration boards at LA's prestigious Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, two shoe-obsessed designers discovered a common interest —luxury footwear with a distinct and imaginative voice. Combining a singular vision with years of experience, Cherise Angelle and Nicole LaFave have created a partnership dedicated to serving the sophisticated shopper, a lady who not only speaks in style but continually lives in it.

I love their mission!

Ode to Pink

Ode to Pink–what a fun post to create, I must say! I am one of those people who is passionate about pink, so much so, that when I was in kindergarten, my favorite outfit consisted of, and was a special compilation of: pink rain boots, pink tights, pink dress, pink raincoat, and to top it off, a pink headband. (As in, full on bright magenta) I, personally, do not recall this giant fashion faux pas, but I believe it...and there is one hilarious photo of me to prove it, arms folded, beside a cow. That's right, a cow. I'm so happy that my taste in fashion has become more fine tuned, but my love of pink has never died.

And so, onto the post, with Paula Grace!

............................................................................................................................................................................................................................

My friend, Sarah Klassen, and I are switching places today. I am on her blog; Sarah is on mine (Paula Grace Designs) . We’re mixing it up just for fun! Above is the lovely Sarah with a pretty pink wallet. Hmmm??!! Where did she get such a fabulous Coach wallet?! She won it! Sarah played my match the wallcovering to the celebrity giveaway and WON! The prize was a Coach wallet in the color of your choice. Sarah chose pink!

Sarah and I decided to do an ode to pink in honor of her wallet. I am covering pink in regards to interior design; Sarah on fashion. I love wearing pink. I always feel so pretty in it.

Pink is not just for little girl rooms any more. A simple Google search will show you that! Fabric companies are creating pink variations by the hundreds. Robert Allen alone has so many tints and shades of solid pink (not to mentions patterns), I can only show you a smattering. They range from white with a drop of red to fuchsia…

Wallcoverings too! They won’t be left out in the dust. Here are some York examples…

Rugs want to stay in the game. Surya among others will see to that…

Ok, ok… we get it. Pink is in… but how is it being interpreted in room designs? I think we should take a look at the masters of color design– Jamie Drake and Larry Laslo.

First Jamie Drake pictured here with Laura Kirar and Margaret Russell (in a pink blazer no less)…

Wow!

Now Larry Laslo

Yes, he’s in a pink room!

Are you celebrating pink now?? Great for those that are. Is a hint of pink enough for you? No worries, I have you covered…

Even the color generous Jamie Drake knows when a little will go a long way…

Moral of the story–if you love pink, I mean LOVE IT, use it generously. There enough products and furnishings out there to complete a room ceiling to floor. If you are having an affair with it, use it judiciously such that it is easy to change out. That is true for any color really. What do you think? Pink–generously or judiciously? We’d love to know.

............................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Thank you, Paula Grace, for such a stylish and inspirational post. These interiors and ideas are just beautiful! A few of my favorite features are the guilded, gold mirror with all the luxe pink, as well as that incredible closet. Lovely!
