Rebecca Turbow

A few days ago, I was sent a press release regarding Rebecca Turbow's Fall and Winter of 2009/2010, and I am quite excited to share these pretty pieces. I would love to know what you think of them! I had blogged a few seasons back about how much I enjoy her unique line (here). Her mod-inspired clothing and accessories instantly captured my attention, yet, I couldn't pin point why, until I read her bio and the company's history. Her concept, when designing and creating clothing, is to fabricate something that makes a person feel emotionally safe and physically secure. Simple? Yes. Ingenious? Oh definitely yes.

Romantic Touches...

What's not to love about these pretty, romantic touches! They remind me to celebrate being a lady. Hoping your weekend is lovely and romantic...

Amy Atlas Events

I can't believe I had no idea about this talented lady~ "Amy Atlas’ unique dessert tables have made her a sought-after event planner in New York City. From a very young age, Amy was entertaining for friends and family. By the time she reached college, she had perfected her talent for her signature dessert tables. After several years of working on political campaigns and practicing law, Amy decided to return to her creative passion for entertaining and party planning."

I had to post up my favorite parties that she has done. (although I wish I could show all of her pics from her website) They are great as inspiration and good to keep on file for future reference! Do you have one that you like best?

Do you ever wish you could have five lives at once? Five different careers that you've always wanted to have? While planning my grandparents' 50th, I began to realize just how much I enjoyed creating an event story and decor...looking for the perfect, little details that make all the difference...*sigh* if I only had a few more lives! If you could have five different careers/lives, what would you do?

Shopping Bags As Art

One of my most favorite blogs, Style Redux, had posted a great feature on showcasing your collection of shopping bags as art. (just as shown above) What a great way to preserve your favorite bags, that are far too beautiful to throw in the trash. I have kept a number of bags of the years that would work ideally for a display of artwork such as first purchase at Saks Fifth Avenue, Ladurée in Paris, our local and stunning Holt Renfrew, etc. It's the wonderfully memories that are attached to these shopping experiences that have a hold on me as wellthis is the perfect solution! Would be nice in a home office, bedroom, bathroom, or dressing room. (best option I believe) I wonder if it would work with shoe/box lids as well...although I love using them for ribbon storage! Do you have some bags that you treasure?

Sam Baron, France

I came across Sam Baron's work today and couldn't believe my eyes! His site is definitely worth a look...there are so many beautiful pieces and installations that he has been involved in. My favorite has to be the dessert/fruit platter, for its subtle yet wow factor. It would be lovely in a bathroom with some fine soaps and lavender perhaps?

Wire Couture

Wouldn't one of these be beautiful on a makeup desk, placed on a table in a dressing room, or on top of a dresser? These pretty wire couture forms are carefully created by the talented Leigh Pennebaker. Each one is unique and truly one of a kind. Her main inspiration is her love of fashion sketches and her concept to bring them into a three dimensional form. These fashionable pieces have been featured in many display windows at numerous stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys New York, and Kiehls.

I think they would make a fantastic gift for the fashion lover in your life...

Let me just say, despite all trends, (and I love when a man knows what's in/out) I think there's something so charming, sexy and elegant about a man in a well-tailored suit. (particularly one by Ermenegildo Zegna) I'm not sure what it is, but my knees become weak...what are your thoughts?

Mary Jo, at Trust Your Style, has created some great posts about men's fashions, in turn receiving some interesting feedback and thoughts from both men and women. be sure to check it out! Usually we women talk about our own preferences and styles, but it's nice to touch on masculine fashion.

Hat Boxes

New item(s) of desire: hat boxes/ the luggage kind. I would like to purchase two or three, to be set on top of my armoire in my bedroom. They could be either new or vintage, and preferably, not made of cotton or paper. I came across a set of three, done in a gold color croc. I didn't love the color, and it doesn't really go with my decor. I would prefer white, gray, pink, black, or aqua. If you have come across some nice ones (preferably not expensive) please let me know where I could find them! I would love some tips~ Thanks!

Love this stunning collection of photos by Jean-François Campos for Dior. I find that the lighting is so magical!

I apologize for not posting anything since Friday! This weekend, we hosted my grandparents' surprise 50th wedding anniversary party. (isn't that wonderful?) We wanted the party to be memorable and beautiful, and for my grandparents to feel really special. That's exactly how it turned out...I can't wait to post up pics of the partyI think it turned out quite well. A great deal of people came, which was so amazing, and completely shocked and thrilled my grandparents. I love parties, particularly surprise parties, given for those who deserve it the most. It warms my heart...

My Mom and I had so much fun planning, organizing and decorating for the party! On a sad note, I had posted a few days back, about getting a new dog. Unfortunately, as sweet as she is, my Mom is incredibly allergic to her, so we had to give her away yet again. My brother was and is devastated. I felt horrible for him and the dog, for she has no idea what is happening or why. Now, she is in her new home, with a very large yard, and I'm sure, (and hope!) having the time of her's very difficult for children. They have such honest, pure and open hearts. They offer love so freely. It breaks my own heart...

I hope you had a lovely, full weekend, and that this week is off to a great start!

Getaway Home?

Anyone want to join me in a weekend escape to a place like this? How serene and beautiful! The landscape, water, and building together is so fuss, no traffic, just tranquility...such a gorgeous, authentic home as well. The stone, the woodsuch a neutral place in general, but so textural. (located in France, I believe) It looks like the ideal place to feel at ease and inspired...

Have a wonderful weekend, friends...
