Detail of the Week

November is here—inevitably followed by beautiful blustery days here in Vancouver, (though, I honestly love when the power goes out. No computer. Just reading and a chance to chat) ...cozy scarves, great blazers, gloves, and boots. I find Fall fashion more favorable because of the materials, details, and layering. That, and I get to sport my undying love for black, wink* and after my black post, I know many of you feel exactly the same way!

Fall is certainly here, and winter is fast approaching. Time to get my fabulous vintage find taken in—a great, navy military style jacket with gold buttons, that I purchased on Market Publique. It has been sitting in my closet for nearly 6 months, awaiting the tailor to bring it in for me. This style is so classic and chic, especially detailed with a crest or intricate symbol, like the ones shown above. So crisp with a white shirt, so lovely with a dress. (don't you love her sweet, little hair clip, too? Ties the gold in perfectly!) Are you a fan?

  1. Hahaha ok Sarah, we're always on the same page! I love it, lol. And yes my fav part is her little hair pin... but now i'm thinking about crest pins too? Fun accessory for sure!

  2. I absolutely love it! Especially the idea of rocking the jacket with a short skirt. Very cool.

  3. Yes I'm a fan! I hope to find a jacket just like these asap! And I agree with you - I favor fall/winter fashion big time!

  4. Huge & constant fan. The military jacket seems to come & go, but never leave the scene; at least not since Sgt. Pepper Album was around, thank goodness. I like them best with skinny jeans. I adore the photos.

  5. I love a classic navy blazer; all the better if it's got a military twist (very au courant!).

  6. Daniella -- too funny...

    AphroChic -- I agree!

Crystal -- I could totally see you wearing one :)

Dumwit Telher -- very much so. They look stellar with skinnies!

  7. I've always been a huge fan of military-inspired style, it is very clean cut :)

I absolutely agree, Fall is so much more fun to get dressed for!

P.S. I am working on our little project, it is making me quite some time...to go through everything. But I want to have it up sometime this week! I am so excited!

  8. I love these little fitted jackets. I keep wanting to make one for myself, complete with contrast piping. But I'm a little intimidated. Still haven't found the perfect one to buy. Lovely post on the Plaza, btw.

  9. Marta -- I can't wait! :)

Miz November -- You should keep your eye out for the perfect one...I waited and waited and finally came across this one, and paid a fraction of what I expected to pay. The quality is superb! Hold out for that ideal jacket :)
