01 Ribbons—I have an ongoing collection of pretty ribbons that is beginning to take over my gift wrapping center. I cannot help myself. Silk, cotton, linen, all kinds of ribbon appeal to me. I love the texture and use them as often as I can...for gifts, for outfits, around vases, etc. While going to University and taking packaging courses, I was told to "maybe...use less ribbons" by my professor. (I am still teased about this on a regular basis)
02 Packaging—I hate to throw it away. (Packaging includes nearly anything designed that 3 dimensional from boxes and bags to perfume bottles) As a graphic designer, I know the amount of work it takes to design and produce certain packages, so I have a really hard time throwing them out. Foils, dye cuts, embossing, are just a few of the details I love...I keep as many as I can (of my favorites) and replace utilitarian packaging with my beautiful packages instead. ie. I hate Q-Tips' packaging and therefore, have put them in a pretty and more sturdy candle container. It takes a minute to do, and looks so much better!

03 White Binders—My preference for holding designs, magazine clippings, projects, etc. They are neutral and clean looking and you can easily customize if desired. Secretly, I'm a geek, and love the look of them lined up on a shelf, all perfect.
04 New Notebooks—Crisp pages just waiting to be filled just thrills me! I have about 10 notebooks that I have purchased just because I love the look/feel of them—they are just waiting to have drawings, lists, and notes filled within their pages. The thought of that gets my creative juices flowing...

05 Storage Boxes—I love leather storage boxes lined up and stacked in my closet and frosted plastic in my bathroom drawers. It keeps things looking nice, organized and clean. IKEA is great for inexpensive, multi-storage plastic containers for the bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room. They are easy to keep clean and stand up well.
06 Wood Hangers—There's no going back once you have experienced wood hangers. I blame the boutiques that I have worked at...I choose either natural wood and painted wood hangers. I love the boutique-like look and feel, how clothes hang off of them, and the streamline look that they help to achieve. ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Hahaha it's all so true! Right now I have like 4 or 5 perfume bottle packages sitting empty under my sink, and I switched all my closet hangers to wooden ones. They just look prettier!
ReplyDeleteSarah-Thanks for tagging me-I think! LOL This is harder than it sounds. I'm looking forward to it. I love your choices-very well done. I can especially relate to the ribbons, packaging, and hangers. Mine is hard because my 6 have to be Chinoiserie since that blog is all Chinoiserie-but it will be a fun challenge!
ReplyDeleteyes for me on the saving pretty containers to use as better containers for ugly shit containers. and yes for me on wooden hangers. before i paid the ridiculous container store price, now i pay the cheap ikea price. we are all (me and my clothes) much happier for it.
ReplyDeleteBeth- I can't wait to see what your picks will be / You will bring a unique angle to the bunch :)
ReplyDeletelol. The glove has been thrown down, and I accept! Stay tuned :) I really like all of your picks - especially the binders. I am notorious for binders - and clean new notebooks!
ReplyDeletelooks like fun but a bit hard. Time to get thinking.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I'll have to think about this today...hmmm...
ReplyDeleteAlso, how general/uninteresting does this have to be?
I'm not too sure, actually. I took it as fairly regular items, but I was a little confused myself...if you would like to check out another list, Maureen, of IngleTalk, had some good picks as well.
ReplyDeleteSo cute... I am the same way and can't throw away packaging :)
ReplyDeleteThis was NOT uninteresting at all!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who is passionate about ribbons and pretty packaging!
Ah - thank goodness I'm not the only one! I share some of these quirky obsessions - I'll let you know the rest in my post...
ReplyDeletethanks for the tag - hope you're having a wonderful day Sarah! x
Ribbons and pretty packaging deserves a post, I believe! Hmmm...will think on it!
ReplyDeleteMmmm - Kimono Rose! I gave that scent to a coworker at our Secret Santa last Xmas. Beautiful packaging indeed. :)
ReplyDeletethe new notebooks definitely hits me...and I love nice storage boxes...makes life more pleasant :) your storage boxes are so you only have one season in your closet at a time ;) because YOU hate clutter....
ReplyDeleteSarah, just saw this post, thanks for doing it.
ReplyDeleteVery chic choices, as always. I swear we have so many things in common, I collect ribbons & you're right, once u go with wooden hangers, it's hard to go plastic (or even wire) again.
I do hate clutter, you're so right! About every 3-4 months, I open up my closet and go crazy.
ReplyDeleteMaureen - thanks so much for passing this on to me, it was fun! You would be an amazing shopping buddy! :)
Wooden hangers is a really good one.
ReplyDeleteI love your picks, especially the re-packaging one as I'm a nut about that too! Thank you for the tag, I will try and come up with my list soon!
ReplyDeletexo
this closet is a dream!
ReplyDeletei only use wooden hangers. took me a while to accumulate enough and get rid of the plastic ones, but so worth it. my clothes are happier- well, they would be if they could talk.
