Pretty Cages...

I love how springtime has a natural way of calling birds back home. Yes, at 4:30 am they may not be as welcomed as they are at 3:00 in the afternoon, however, I do love hearing and seeing them return each year. Out back there are a few birdhouses that are on loan to families for the season. I think it's a beautiful thing, watching tiny baby chicks come into the world, while being protected and cared for by their watchful mothers...

For some reason, I could never have a bird as a pet, despite my appreciation for their beauty and song. I much prefer to appreciate them outside in the garden, in their natural habitat. However, I love the idea of using bird cages in a modern way in the home, particularly in spring and summer. On the floor, hung from the ceiling or on the wall, placed on a table, or even on the mantlethey offer an instant victorian and whimsy feel to a space. I've seen a few grouped together simply, and some lighting decorated with butterflies, flowers, nests or artificial birds. Perhaps they could also make a nice addition to your Easter table setting this coming weekend...

  5. Birds: love, love them! We live in a bird sanctuary and they are constantly singing, all day long. It is such a beautiful sound. I find myself collecting them, whether it be a belt clasp, charm, or an accessory piece in my house. I don't think I could ever tire of them.

  7. I believe I have seen another wall done with a grid pattern of mirrors - except it was in a front entry...

I think it would look amazing with a stunning wallpaper backdrop and simple mirrors, perhaps 5 across and 5 down, created in a perfect grid system...often you can purchase simplistic mirrors from Ikea for a very reasonable price. (considering you would need quite a few!) The result is gorgeous.
