Happy New Year

I wish you all a Happy New Year - one that is safe and fun. Typically, I make a resolution to go to the gym or the like, but this year, I made quite a different resolution. My resolution is to make an exceptional effort to voice my thoughts...to compliment others when they have done something wonderful/made something well; To tell people how much I appreciate what they do. It only takes a few seconds to make a difference. We are all busy, have hectic schedules and sometimes forget to tell others how we really feel.

Bedrooms to Crave

Nothing is more comforting than a warm, cozy bed on a cold winter day...some rooms featured above have a light, airy feel and others a deep, and almost romantic feel. I have to say, I love the lanterns so much (shown in photo 02) I bought myself the very same one. (photos: Living Etc.)

Erin Fetherston

video
I'm in love with the darling fashion designer: Erin Fetherston. In her mid-twenties, she is already quite a success story. Recently moved to New York from Paris, she continues to grow her company and produce unique collections with an air of fairytale and sweetness. Seen on the likes of Anne Hathaway, Megan Fox, Kirsten Dunst, Cameron Diaz and so on, her collections allow one to feel whimsical and romantic. Apparently, Target has taken her on board as well. To check out her website and view her collections, click here.

James Moes Photography

David introduced this talented photographer to me about a year ago and once I began to browse through his collections, I was addicted. Finally, a wedding photographer that goes beyond the typical poses and yet still captures the event in unexpected and memorable ways. I find his photography captivating. I believe he lives in Seattle but is often in British Columbia as well. To view more photos on his Flickr account, click here. To check out his website and visit his blog, click here.

Linn Olofsdotter

Linn Olofsdotter was born in Sweden, worked in Brazil and is now settled in the Portland area. She is a fine illustrator and has had the pleasure of working with numerous companies such as La Perla, Starbucks, Europe Levi's, Oilily and has even been commissioned to do some wall murals for a hotel in Los Angeles. Nearly all of her work has a collage-like feel, with numerous layers, nuances and media. The almost surreal and psychedelic look of some of her pieces attests to her ability and willingness to explore and develop her very own unique and identifiable style. To view more of her pieces, check out her website here.

Haute Fashion on Canvas

This stunning painting was created especially for me for Christmas by David Arias, my boyfriend, multi-talented graphic designer and artist. (It is acrylic on canvas, measuring 36 x 60 inches) What a bold, high-fashion and artistic piece...I will treasure it always.

Joy*

Merry Christmas to all :) Thank you for taking time out of your busy days to browse through my blog...I appreciate all of your lovely emails and really nice comments. My wish is that you will be cozy, eat more than you ought to, make new memories and most importantly, celebrate the birth of Jesus with loved ones and friends. On a side note, enjoy this time of year as yes, the more glam the fashion, the better - embrace sequins, they are hot this season (but please don't go overboard!) chic fur (or faux if this is your preference) and a dramatic look. Butter Baked Goods

Oversized homemade oreo cookies, soft, tasty gingerbread men, and sweetly packaged rich dark drinking chocolate are just a few of the many delicious goodies Butter Baked Goods has to offer. Butter is a quaint little bakery located in Kitsilano’s Dunbar area that has been tastfully decorated in a fanciful, Martha Stewart-esque style complete with soft flowery wallpaper and pastel colors. As I walked into this quaint little shop today I was greeted with friendly service, amazing aromas and a comforting feeling that only a great little shop like this could offer. Did I mention I love their branding? It reminds one of creamy desserts and smooth, sweet batter - very successful. Not only can you purchase goodies from this shop but also at other specialty grocery stores like Urban Fare. Click here to visit their website and view the entire line of treats. (image: Flickr)

Ruth Cross Fashion

Ruth Cross products are very unique and thus desirable, having been conceptualized from old-world methods into a contemporary context. They base their collections on re-thinking the traditional way of hand-knitting and take inspiration from organic forms. They believe in stepping outside of current fashion slightly in order to create special products with a seemingly strong historical aspect, yet with a modern twist; perfect for today. The allure lies in the details and the quality of the products and how they are manufactured. In fact, the company is committed to supporting the British industry and small businesses wherever possible, using the finest lambs-wool from Scotland and British knitters to produce the pieces. The process takes approximately one month to complete each garment, which results in a very limited number per style, each year. In today's economy, I feel it is vital to support the local, small businesses in our communities. This company came to my attention via Blueprint magazine and I believe in its promise. If you would like to read more about them, their practices or view more pieces, click here.

Yulia Brodskaya

Here's a little info. about the designer..."I was born in Russia where I started out as a fine artist producing contemporary office decoration artwork for Moscow based companies while studying for my first degree in Graphic Design. In 2004 I moved to London, earned my M.A. in Graphic Communication and since then have been busy with parallel careers as an illustrator and a freelance graphic designer.

I’m constantly experimenting and evolving, always pushing my style in new directions: my greatest passion is to explore the ways of combining illustration and typography." -beautiful.
